McKillican American Inc., one of North America’s largest building products distributors has completed the acquisition of the assets of Panel Source International (PSI). Started in the 1990’s, PSI has become one of the leading suppliers of sustainable and environmentally friendly wood products, including pressure and fire treated construction gradei lumber and plywood.
As sustainable green building and development practices grow, the acquisition of PSI will enhance McKillican’s position to achieve our goal of becoming the leading source of eco-friendly wood products that are specified and used in green building standards, such as LEED. The acquisition of PSI will expand our reach into the Lumber & Building Material Dealer (LBM) and Commercial Builder segment which is PSI’s primary market.
McKillican brings a much larger distribution footprint with its 21 distribution centers making product availability much more convenient for our customers. Geographically, PSI’s customers are located throughout the U.S and Canada with extensive sales into Canada and the Eastern U.S. and all these markets will continue to be serviced by McKillican.
Key employees from PSI have joined the McKillican sales team and will work under our newly created Green Building Information Center (GBIC). Team members from the GBIC will work closely with our job tracking process and will follow-up on jobs which require our products and certification submittals and downloads. McKillican is a Chain of Custodyi Certified Distributor, in addition to being a member of the USGBCi.
The acquisition of PSI will provide McKillican with immediate growth opportunities in these new product categories and market segments. The acquisition of PSI is our second acquisition in 2009 after acquiring American Hardwoods, located in Phoenix, Arizona earlier this year.
