UFsearch for term: An interior gradeⁱ resinⁱ used heavily in particleboardⁱ, MDFⁱ, and hardwood plywood manufacturing. UF is popular because it’s easy to use, low cost, and works under a wide range of conditions. It does, however, off gas urea formaldehydeⁱ.
UFFsearch for term: Urea Formaldehydeⁱ Free
Under-Runsearch for term: A loss in inventory volume, so that the amount manufactured or sold was less than was indicated by the volume of raw material.
Underlaymentsearch for term: Usually a thin particleboardⁱ that is placed underneath flooring to help create cushion for the occupants.
Unitsearch for term: A stack of lumber or plywood, usually of a standard size.
Urea Formaldehydesearch for term: Urea formaldehydeⁱ (UFⁱ) has been traditionally used in the compositeⁱ panel (mdfⁱ and particleboardⁱ) industry. It has been the choice resinⁱ, due to low cost, and ease of use. New government regulations in conjunction with building programs like LEED, are helping transform the market so that products are no longer made with UF. Alternatives to UF is PFⁱ (phenol formaldehydeⁱ) and pMDI.
